Hi everyone,
I was looking for the thread on bowel preparations before colonoscopy in CKD and dialysis.
Is anyone using Pico-Salax in dialysis patients?
I saw in the UK consensus guidelines from 2012 (Connor A, et al., see link) that there is a weak, low level recommendation to use Pico Salax in ESRD patients who are on dialysis.

I could not find any studies though to support use. We currently use Bi-Peglyte (bisacodyl and PEG), but have been asked about if there is an alternative regimen.
We definitely do not use Pico Salax at Regina Qu”appelle Health District, due to the fact that we have had one death from hypermagnesemia secondary to the use of a magnesium containing enema in one of our dialysis patients. We exclusively use the bisacodyl/PEG solution.
