What dose of oral Na thiosulphate are people using for calciphylaxis?
Hi Marisa, there is a case series published by AlBugami M.M et al. (2013) describing oral STS 600 mg PO TID for maintenance therapy after IV STS, and found the compounded oral STS to be effective. The best part is that it costs $45 per month, compared to $12,000 per month with IV STS.
Hi Cliff and Marisa- yes we step patients down to PO STS – compounded through a local community pharmacy around the 3 month mark after receiving IV STS provided they have had resolution of their lesions. We did this case series using bone scans per and post. Let me know if you have any questions. Jo-Anne 🙂
Hi Marisa- Oral STS 600 mg po TID.
