Hi,
A number of our patients have experienced rituximab-associated infusion reactions. These patients all received the standard pre-medications (methylprednisolone 100 mg IV, diphenhydramine 50 mg PO, acetaminophen 500 mg). Rituximab has been reconstituted as per product monograph and the infusion titrated according to the 255-minute protocol.
We are interested to know the experience at other centers and whether different pre-medications are being prescribed. We are considering using montelukast.
Any thoughts are welcome!
Thank you,
Alison
Hi Alison,
Here at Grand River Hospital we have been promoting Montelukast 10mg the night before & 10mg the morning of the infusion on the recommendation of our oncology pharmacists with great success. All the other pre-meds are the same as well.
Regards,
Jennifer
